In recent years, with the rapid development of access markets worldwide and the rapid development of full-service operations, the existing PON The technical standards are in terms of bandwidth requirement, service support capability, and performance improvement of A-Node equipment and supporting equipment New upgrade requirements are faced.
In 2004, ITU_T's Q2 organization began to synchronously study and analyze the possibility of evolving from GPON to next-generation PON.
In September 2007, Q2 officially released its enhanced wavelength plan for standardizing the coexistence of GPON and next-generation PON systems.
In November 2007, Q2 officially confirmed the standardization roadmap of XG-PON, and with the goal of "low cost, high capacity, wide coverage, full service, high interconnectivity", it quickly pushed forward the research and development of next-generation PON technology standards.
In October 2009, Q2 officially released the first phase of XG-PON standard text during SG15 Plenum, namely the overall requirements of the next generation PON system (ITU-T G.987.1) and the physical layer PMD specification (ITU-T G.987.2).
In June 2010, XG-PON's convergence layer GTC layer specification (ITU-T G.987.3) and management layer OMCI specification (ITU-T G.988) were released.
Overview Features
NGPON will go through two standard phases: NGPON1 and NGPON2.We usually have 10G GPON in the NG PON1 stage, standard number G.987 series, also known as XG PON.The asymmetric system (2.5Gbit/s uplink, 10Gbit/s downlink) is called XG-PON1, and the symmetric system (10Gbit/s uplink, 10Gbit/s downlink) is called XG-PON2.
At present, we provide XGPON devices with an uplink 2.5Gbit/s, downlink 10Gbit/s asymmetric rate and an uplink 10Gbit/s, downlink 10Gbit/s symmetric rate to meet the rapidly growing service demand.Juwei Communication Technology Co., Ltd. provides a complete 10G GPON FTTB/C solution.10G GPON provides higher bandwidth and is fully inherited from GPON in application scenarios, service configuration and O&M.Figure 1-1 shows 10G GPON FTTB/C networking.

● Optical Line Terminal (OLT) provides 10G GPON service access through the 10G GPON access board.
● Optical Distribution Network (ODN) provides 10G GPON service transmission.
● The Optical Network Unit (ONU) provides user service access and upstream through the 10G GPON uplink port.

The Principle is Introduced
The 10G GPON network adopts the P2MP network architecture, that is, the wavelength division multiplexing principle is adopted through the upstream and downstream different wavelengths in the same Data transmission is carried out on each ODN:
● Downlink transmits data by broadcasting, and the downlink center wavelength is 1577nm.
● Uplink through TDMA, the ONU transmits data according to the time slot, the uplink center wavelength is 1270nm.

10G GPON ONU Authentication
In ONU authentication, the OLT authenticates the validity of the ONU based on the reported authentication information and rejects connections from illegitimate ONUs Into the Only authenticated legitimate ONUs can access the PON system, which can satisfy the carrier to achieve flexible and convenient The management mode of the maintenance.
10G GPON terminal authentication works in the same way as GPON terminal authentication, which is not described here.
10G GPON terminal authentication includes: unconfigured ONUs (automatically discovered ONUs) on the OLT,Onus preconfigured on the OLT (The authentication modes for the preconfigured ONUs are SN authentication and SN authentication+Password authentication, Password authentication), LOID authentication.
The 10G GPON terminal authentication mode is different from that of the GPON terminal authentication mode. 10G GPON extends the length of the password from 10 to 36 bytes.
Networking Applications
To ensure that the GPON network evolves to 10G GPON, this paper describes two common networking scenarios. You can select one based on the actual network scenario and requirements.
Solution1: 10G GPON
Application Description: All devices on the entire network are 10G GPON devices, including 10G GPON OLT and 10G GPON devices The ONU and ODN are exclusive. This scenario applies to the entire 10G GPON FTTB/C network creation scenario.
Figure 3 shows the single networking of 10G GPON.
Solution2: 10G GPON and GPON hybrid networking
Application Description: In 10G GPON and GPON hybrid networking, there are both 10G ONU and GPON ONU in the PON network. 10G GPON and GPON share the same ODN.

Instructions
In hybrid networking, XGPON ONU and GPON ONU are connected under the PON port of the same OLT, and the multiplexing channel processes access services. 10G GPON and GPON services share one ODN.
